MARTINSVILLE – Short-term lane and ramp closures in Martinsville are expected to begin later this week for laying the final layer of asphalt pavement, permanent striping, and grinding rumble strips in the shoulders. Around-the-clock lane closures continue north of Martinsville through late April as crews install median cable barriers, stabilize side-slopes and place the crushed stone in the shoulders. Police are enforcing the reduced speed limits of 45 mph.
Cramertown Loop is closed south of S.R. 252 to replace a drainage structure and rebuild a small section of the road. Click for a map of the closure and local access routes. S.R. 252 will also close for about a week by early May to complete the roundabout at the intersection.
S.R. 39/Morton Avenue traffic is shifted to complete the roundabout at Rogers Road. the permanent on-ramp to I-69 southbound is expected to open in the coming weeks and the existing temporary ramp will be removed.
South Street is scheduled to close in April between Home Avenue, just west of the I-69 overpass, and Ohio Street. This City of Martinsville project involves waterline work, storm sewer installation, and road improvements.
Nighttime lane closures continue on S.R. 37 between Epler Avenue and Wicker Road for temporary paving and striping. Road crews expect to shift southbound traffic toward the outside shoulder starting Tuesday night. The northbound traffic shift across the center median is scheduled for next week.
The permanent closure of Edgewood Avenue east of S.R. 37 and temporary closure of Belmont Avenue between Edgewood and Epler avenues are expected in early April. Edgewood Avenue is permanently closed west of S.R. 37. Click for a map of the closures and alternate routes.
Nighttime lane closures continue on I-465 between I-70 and I-65 on the southwest side of Indianapolis. Bridge crews are rebuilding the Mooresville Road Bypass and Madison Avenue overpasses and installing temporary barriers in the center median.
The realigned Huggin Hollow Road at the Circle K and BP gas stations is expected to open in about a week, allowing Old S.R. 37 to close north of S.R. 144 in April.
Road crews are at work connecting a new Smith Valley Road roundabout to Bluffdale Drive and Old S.R. 37 access road extensions west of S.R. 37. The bridge deck over Honey Creek was poured last week.
Stay alert for increasing truck traffic along S.R. 37 between S.R. 144 and Fairview Road. Crews are removing pavement and building the new I-69 lanes.
