BEDFORD – The 17th annual Mr. BNL contest has its winner for 2022. After dazzling the night away, and walking away with a total of three awards, the 2022 Mr. BNL is Kolton Parker.
Held at the BNL Performing Arts Center, the goal of this competition is to show off skills, or a lack thereof, to impress the judges and the audience. Contestants from different organizations, clubs, and sports came together to make the audience laugh during the two-hour show, a feat easily attributed to this year’s circus theme “Under the Big Top.”
Mr. Nick Mullis hosted the show while filling the awkward silences between acts, with even more awkward circus-themed jokes. Trying to stick to the best slap-stick comedy he could, he even went for the classic “fall” on stage and suffered from that decision, after he allegedly cracked his collarbone in the process.
The show started with sending in the clowns, introducing the competitors in the event before separating them into their teams of either red, white, or blue (BNL’s school colors).
Each team then came on stage for a choreographed routine, aimed at starting the event off with humor, before individually representing their club/sport and talents to those in attendance.
The scene then changed to show off costumes relevant to each student’s organization or sport and individual talents to impress the judges further to score the most points.
2021 Mr. BNL Reinyn Clute was able to then have a moment on stage for the first time as Mr. BNL, due to the contest taking place virtually in 2021 due to COVID-19, before handing his crown over.
The evening would culminate in the final awards of the evening, with the two runners-up to the eventual winner of the 2022 Mr. BNL Contest.
