MADISON CO. – On Thursday, April 21, 2022, around 2:42 p.m., Sgt Ron Huff, and Trooper Michael Thiron responded to a crash involving injuries in the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 at the 217.8-mile marker.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a black 2018 Nissan driven by Michael K. Scott, 31, of Indianapolis. Trooper Thiron detected signs of impairment and the odor of alcohol emitting from Scott at the scene. Trooper Thiron transported Scott to St. Vincent Hospital to submit to a chemical test per the Indiana Implied Consent statute. At this time, the results of the chemical test are pending.
A preliminary investigation of the crash determined the black Nissan was southbound on I-69 when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the median barrier twice before coming to rest.
The front-seat passenger, identified as Andre Ronell Singletary Jr., 18, of Indianapolis was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Fishers for injuries sustained in the crash. Evidence at the scene determined that Singletary was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. There was also a back seat passenger, who was a minor, who was properly wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries from the crash.
Scott was arrested and incarcerated at the Madison County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger under 18, a Class 6 felony, and operating while intoxicated-endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor
