Nora Jean Moody, 77, of Mitchell, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, at IU Health Hospice House.
Born January 2, 1945, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary Ellen (Lime) McGinnis. She married Gale Edward “Bunk” Moody on July 9, 1979, and he preceded her in death.
Jean graduated in 1963 from the Our Lady of Grace Academy and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was an avid reader. Jean loved her flowers and tomato plants. And she made the best angel food cake.
Survivors include her children Gary Edward (Debbie) Moody of Mitchell, David Moody of Mitchell, Lisa (James) Taylor of Mitchell, Michelle (Mike) Kern of Bedford, Michael (Lisa) Moody of Missouri, Lisa (Brian) Carrico of Bedford, and Vicki (Troy) Hamilton of Columbus; sister, Susie (Mike) Barthlomew of Beech Grove; sister-in-law, Jan McGinnis of Indianapolis 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Bella.
Her parents; husband; brother, Lee McGinnis; and great-granddaughter, Nora Davis preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. The burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
