Teddy Bear Camp
The DHPA is hosting Teddy Bear Camp the week of May 8-14. This camp is for stuffed animals (not just teddy bears) belonging to kids age 5-12 in Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, or Boone counties. The stuffed animals will visit a variety of places during camp to learn about history, architecture, and historic preservation. Photos of camp adventures will be posted to Facebook daily. At the end of camp, stuffed animals and their kids will all be official “Junior Indiana Preservationists” and will get a certificate. Additionally, digital photo albums will be emailed to parents/guardians after the camp.
Although the camp itself runs from May 8-14, stuffed animals must be dropped off at one of our three partner sites on May 4-5. The sites and dates/times for drop-off are:
- Indiana State Museum (650 W. Washington St, Indianapolis): May 4, 11a.m-1p.m. Park on the circle drive and enter the main doors to the information desk.
- Danville Royal Theater (59 S. Washington St, Danville): May 4, 3p.m.-5 p.m. in the lobby
- Conner Prairie (13400 Allisonville Rd, Fishers): May 5, 8a.m.-10a.m. at the Welcome Center
Please note: Bring completed registration forms to drop-off. Without the form, we don’t have any way to return the stuffed animals to their kids. The last thing we want is orphaned stuffies.
Stuffed animals must be picked up on May 18 at the site where they were dropped off. The sites and dates/times for pickup are:
- Indiana State Museum (650 W Washington St, Indianapolis): May 18, 11-1 p.m.
- Danville Royal Theater (59 S Washington St, Danville): May 18, 3-5 p.m.
- Conner Prairie (13400 Allisonville Rd, Fishers): May 18, 8-10 a.m.

Social Media
DHPA will takeover the DNR Facebook page during the week of May 1-7 and focus on a different office section each day and explain what exactly the state historic preservation office does for Indiana.
Poster
This year’s theme is “That Exceptional One – Indiana’s Early Female Architects and Builders.” The DHPA produced a poster with images of 18 of these women. Every day in May on the DHPA Facebook page, officials will go into more detail about 38 women who either practiced architecture or designed/built homes in Indiana. Additionally, they will share weekly Facebook Live broadcasts about these women.
