BLOOMINGTON – The Monroe County History Center is preparing for its 41st annual Garage Sale fundraiser on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11 at 4015 Profile Parkway.
All items featured in the sale are donated by the public and the proceeds from the sale will benefit artifact preservation, programs, and exhibits at the History Center for the community. The Garage Sale is the highest-grossing fundraiser for the Center and is one of its primary sources of funding.
“This is really exciting to see all of our community’s support through donated items for the Garage Sale. The History Center is so lucky to have such hardworking volunteers that are dedicated to helping prepare the items and space for the fundraiser,” said Daniel Schlegel, Director of the Monroe County History Center.
The annual Garage Sale for the History Center has grown over its forty-one years. From a small sale raising $3000 in its first year to its current location, the sale and its offerings continue to flourish. The 2021 Garage Sale raised a sum of over $130,000 to support Center operations.
“This is so much more than a garage sale, it really is an extravaganza. We hope to see anyone and everyone come out for the sale in June. It’s an impressive community event and a lot of fun,” Schlegel added.
The Garage Sale Committee is made up of dedicated volunteers who have been working with the History Center for a number of years. The volunteers, known to many as the “Garage Sale Ladies,” work year-round on the annual garage sale and have done so for many years. Several have volunteered for the sale from its beginning.
The 2022 Annual Garage Sale is set to take place on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11. Donations to the sale are accepted year-round. Donations can be taken to the sale location at 4015 Profile Parkway on weekdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The last day for donations is May 27. Questions may be directed to 812-332-2517.
