BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence’s Autumn Hall and Lindley Steele settled for fourth-place finishes, missing qualification to the state finals by the narrowest of margins, during the IHSAA girls track regional at Bloomington North on Tuesday.
Hall was edged by one inch in the discus, while Steele was clipped at the finish line by .32 seconds in the 200 meter dash. The top three in each event advanced to the state meet at Indiana University on June 3.
Steele crossed the line in 26.53 in the 200, with Eastern Greene’s Anna Tieman claiming the third spot. Steele was also sixth in the 100 (13.01) and eighth in the long jump (16-7 1/4). Hall fired the discus 113-4, edged by Clay City’s Megan Jackson for the third spot.
Other regional competitors for BNL included Grace Tanksley (10th in the 3200 in 12:26.74), Alessia Agostini (15th in the 100 hurdles in 18.25), Kayln Ritz (14th in the pole vault at 7-6), and the 3200 relay team of Kathryn Larkin, Tanksley, Jayden Jackson and Emma Baumgart (16th in 12:03.28).
BNL tied for 13th in the team competition with 14 points. Bloomington North won the title with 98.5 points.
