BEDFORD – Are you good with a camera? Do you like to take pictures of anything and everything? Then the Limestone Heritage Festival is looking for you.
The Limestone Heritage Festival Photography Contest will be conducted Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25, in the meeting room of the Lawrence County History Museum, 929 15th Street, Bedford (northside of the Courthouse Square).
The exhibit will be open to the public from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday night and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Photographers are welcome to submit photos from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23.
Judging will take place before the exhibit opens on Friday. Voting for the Best of Show will also be conducted by ballot of those who attend the exhibit.
Ribbons will be awarded for the best entry in the following three categories:
- Limestone in Architecture
- Limestone in Scenery (quarry pictures, limestone outcroppings, limestone cuts, etc.)
- General Limestone (anything with limestone as a feature within the photo that doesn’t fit into one of the other categories)
First, second and third places in each category were announced. All photos will be eligible for the Best of Show category, which comes with a $100 cash prize.
Photographers are welcome to exhibit as many photos as they would like, in as many categories as they would like. The entry fee will be $5 per entry.
The committee requests that all entries be at least 5×7 in size, matted, but not necessarily framed.
They can be framed if you choose and suitable for hanging (wire or sawtooth hangers). No entries larger than 11×15 will be accepted. Entries have to be original artwork, the photographer has shot themselves. They do not have to be shot in the last calendar year.
Photos that have been entered in the contest in prior years may not be entered again.
Photos may be picked up from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, or during museum hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning June 28. Photos must be picked up by July 1.
