BLOOMINGTON — The Monroe County Democratic Party is hosting a town hall to address gun violence on Tuesday, June 7, from 6 to 8 PM at the Monroe County Public Library Auditorium.
The public will have an opportunity to speak with Democratic 9th District Nominee Matt Fyfe, a 2022 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate, and State Chapter Trainer for Moms Demand Action Courtney Daily. Together, they will discuss what the community can do to advocate for gun sense policies.
In the wake of senseless tragedies in our schools, where children should feel safe, gun violence prevention is more important now than ever. Fyfe, a high school math teacher, understands what is at stake. The community must elect representatives who are willing to take action to protect children in classrooms across the state and the country.
“We need action,” Fyfe said. “We must continue to pressure our representatives, that means educating and organizing ourselves to do that efficiently and effectively. I am looking forward to this town hall as it is a wonderful opportunity to hear from people in the district that care about this issue and want to work together to keep our communities safe and prevent violence involving guns.”
