BEDFORD – The Lawrence County commissioner Tuesday morning signed a contract with American Legal Publishing to put all the county’s ordinances online.
The contract was for $7,950.
Local governments have shifted to using technology to provide information to their community. Since 1934, more than 3,000 municipalities and counties have depended on American Legal to publish, supplement, and distribute their Codes of Ordinances.
“Anyone with internet to access the county’s ordinances,” said County Attorney David Smith. “We have been wanting to do this and follow suit of other counties that have this information available.”
According to Smith, this will provide new ways for local governments to share information publicly in ways that are efficient, accessible, cost-effective, and fast.
