INDIANA – The Indiana Historical Bureau, a division of the Indiana State Library, has been awarded a grant from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation to help applicants with funding for new Indiana state historical markers during the current 2022-23 marker cycle and 2023-24 marker cycle.
The funds can provide crucial assistance for organizations and communities that may be interested in applying for new markers but may not have had the funding opportunities to do so in the past. Notably, the bureau hopes the funds will encourage applications for markers commemorating underrepresented or marginalized communities, or in currently low marker counties across Indiana, to more equitably represent the rich and diverse history of the state.
Through this grant, the Pomeroy Foundation will help the Indiana Historical Bureau fully fund three new markers this cycle and provide partial funding of $1,000 for many others. Learn more and download a copy of the marker application here.
Please contact Casey Pfeiffer of the Indiana Historical Bureau with any questions about the grant or about the marker program.
