BEDFORD – The Bedford Rotary Club annual Dr. Dan Shafer Memorial Fish Fry brought community members out to the Thornton Park Shelter House Friday afternoon, to enjoy some great food, along with supporting the endeavors of the organization.
Newly appointed Bedford Rotary Club President, Tracy Bailey, said that all of the money raised from the days events go right back to the community to make things better.
“All of the things we do from the fish fry to the toast, all of the money goes right back into the community, one way or another,” said Bailey. “Whether through scholarships, the ‘I Like Me’ program, as well as a small portion going to the International Rotary Club. The Rotary Club is above all else a service organization. The motto is ‘service above self,’ so we are always looking for ways to better the community.”
During the meal, a silent auction also provided community members the chance to win some great prizes and services from tools from Lowe’s, to a limestone bench and more.
The Fish Fry has been a staple of what the organization does throughout the year for the community and has been an annual tradition for more than 20 years, and Bailey says it will continue to provide the community a chance to work together for the betterment of the community.
