BEDFORD – United HealthCare will be the new county employees’ healthcare insurance provider.
According to Miles Parker, of Parker Insurance Group, the county currently has healthcare insurance coverage through Anthem. However, due to an increase in major medical claims the county can no longer afford to stay with Anthem after a significant premium increase.
The commissioners chose United Health Care which allows a $3.9 million cap with a 41 percent savings.
Commission Dustin Gabhart said to have United Healthcare as their healthcare provider will cost the county $2,0057,002.96 a year a savings of 6.24 percent. If the county had stated with Anthem it would have cost $4,429,391.
Employees are urged to reach out to Parker Group or Human Resource Director Travis Sanders to get enrolled in the new healthcare plan.
Commissioner Rodney Fish says all employees will be given information on the new healthcare plan.
