Registration for the 2022 Claude Akins Memorial Golf Classic now open

BEDFORD – The 2022 Claude Akins Memorial Golf Classic, presented by the Bedford Recreation Foundation, Inc., is set to tee off on Saturday, September 3rd, and Sunday, September 4th at the Otis Park Golf Course at 607 Tunnelton Road.

The tournament, hosted by the Bedford Recreation Foundation, is a first-class atmosphere to provide enjoyment along with raising funds to help enhance the quality of life in the community. The support of this fun and exciting event helps Bedford Recreation Foundation’s mission to support worthwhile projects and provide current and future generations a place to enjoy.

The entry fee is $70 per player, with two rounds being played each day at 7:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. With over $49,000 raised during last year’s classic, the goal is to go even higher.

Forms are due by Friday, August 19th to one of two places:

The BRF with your participation in the Tournament has provided funding to numerous projects involving Recreation and the City Parks – including, but not limited to:

  • The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County
  • Scholarships at BNL High School
  • Lawrence County Aquatics
  • Soccer Complex Pavilion
  • Wilson Park Scoreboard & Playground Equipment
  • Local Special Olympics
  • 20’ Outdoor Projection Movie Screen & The Junior Golf Program.

Projects at Otis Park include Stone Picnic Pavilion Renovations, over 50 New Trees, New Sod, Bunker Sand, Irrigation Improvements, Exterior Renovations on Club House, Cart Barn and Range Ball Shed, New Trash Containers and Water Coolers, Cart Path Improvements and Landscaping.
