BEDFORD – Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer reported during the commissioner’s meeting Tuesday that the Sheriff’s Department and Emergency Management were “over prepared” for both the Lawrence County Fair and the ABATE Boogie that happened last week.
“But it is always better to be over-prepared than not and these were too big events,” she added. “We had plenty of resources for both events.”
She added she participated in a health coalition video conference and learned COVID numbers are increasing along with other health-related issues.
“This is causing a shortage of hospital beds not only in Lawrence County but statewide,” Luchauer added. “We have been transferring patients out of our county and utilizing air ambulances to do that.”
