INDIANAPOLIS – More than 200+ Indiana businesses signed on to a “Don’t Ban Equality” letter aimed at supporting women’s access to reproductive healthcare. The letter, facilitated by the ACLU of Indiana, was released today and includes signees from Emmis Communications, Patachou Inc, Silver in the City, Well Done, and ZESCO, as well as other businesses from 30+ Indiana cities.
In states with better access to contraception, women have higher labor force participation, more frequently pursue full-time work, have higher median wages, and experience better job mobility relative to women in states with poor contraceptive access according to the Center for American Progress.
In the letter, Indiana businesses recognize how important access to reproductive healthcare is stating, “Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health, independence and economic stability of our employees and customers. Simply put, it goes against our values, and is bad for business.” The full letter and list of companies can be found here.
The release of the “Don’t Ban Equality” business letter comes just days before Indiana legislators are set to convene for a special session during which they are expected to introduce legislation that would ban abortion in Indiana.
