BROWN CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews plan to close a section of State Road 135 in Brown County next week to remove and replace a quadruple drainage pipe near Beech Road.
On or after Monday, August 1, S.R. 135 will close to allow crews to remove an existing structure from under the roadway and replace it with a new one. Crews will then backfill the area with concrete, which will require an additional cure time, through Tuesday, August 2.
Once the curing is complete, the road will reopen to traffic. The surface will remain rough until patching work can occur later in the week. The project is expected to be complete by Friday, August 5, weather permitting. The S.R. 135 bridge over Kiper Creek (N of Freetown) remains closed through late August for a replacement project in Jackson County.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active work zones. Thru traffic should seek an alternate route while the road is closed.
