BEDFORD – Lawrence County Commissioners Tuesday morning, heard from Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb who reported work has begun on Bridge 138 carrying East Oolitic Road over Salt Creek. The bridge will be closed until the scheduled work is completed in November.
According to Webb, the work will consist of bearing replacement and relocation, removing a portion of the bridge deck, hydro demolition, installing a new bridge deck overlay, and replacement of the expansion joints. There will be approximately 100 feet of approach work associated with this work.
The commissioners approved a contract with Premier Petroleum to provide the county with fuel. The contract is for 7,000 gallons at $2.29 a gallon which is an increase from last year when it cost $1.74 a gallon.
Highway crews continue to patch county roads, replace culverts and cut brush.
