WHITING – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after a body was recovered near Whiting Lakefront Park.
Yesterday at about 2 p.m., a park visitor located what was believed to be a body in Lake Michigan approximately 200 yards from shore.
Upon arrival, first responders located and recovered the body floating northeast of the park near the BP Water Purification Plant.
The identity of the male victim is being withheld pending family notification.
Assisting agencies were Lake County Marine Unit, Whiting Police Department, East Chicago Police Department, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
