NEW ALBANY – New Albany scored four goals in the first 10 minutes and 10 goals in the first half while rolling to a 12-1 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during girls high school soccer action on Saturday.
The Stars (0-4 overall, 0-2 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) recorded their first goal of the season but couldn’t avoid the mercy-rule ending.
Lilly Dusard got BNL on the board with a penalty kick at the 6:44 mark of the first half.
“We started off well but it got rocky in the middle of the first half,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “Our goalie took a hard hit to the head and had to come out. We were missing some players today due to injuries and sickness.”
New Albany improved to 3-1 overall (1-0 in the HHC).
BNL will host Bloomfield on Sept. 1.
