BEDFORD – Annie Waggoner, a senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School, has been named the Genius Jock for the month of September presented by the attorneys at Pittman Law firm, Greg Pittman and Michelle Woodward.
“Annie is a great player in volleyball and softball and a high achieving student, but more importantly, she is an outstanding young lady,” said Jeff Callahan, Bedford North Lawrence High School Athletic Director.
She is the daughter of Darren and Mindy Waggoner.
“Annie is a natural leader. She’s an incredible athlete who is always eager to learn and get better. You can count on Annie to always gives her best effort. Every team needs an Annie,” said Whitney Carroll, head volleyball coach.
Annie is a valuable member of the volleyball and softball teams at BNL. Earning All-State 1st team position and All HHC with two regional championships.
She is also a star student with a GPA of 4.137.
Annie is able to balance her studies, sports activities, and her involvement in school activities making her a peer member of the BNL student body. She is the vice president of the Beta Club, the president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Student Athlete Leadership Team, and the French Club and Renaissance Club.
“Annie is a leader on the field and in the classroom,” said Brad Gilbert, head softball coach. “She is an excellent role model for female student-athletes.”
Annie plans to attend Indiana State University to major in Kinesiology and to play softball.
