COLUMBUS – Columbus East cruised to a 10-0 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during girls high school soccer action on Tuesday.
The Olympians (2-3-2 overall, 1-0-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) scored eight goals in the first half and finished with a 22-1 advantage in shots while triggering the mercy-rule finish.
“I was pretty happy with how they played the first half,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “We were patient and held them off from scoring a lot longer than we normally do. We did not have any subs today due to injuries, but were able to keep all 11 on the field the whole game.
“They scored several of their goals off crosses and we weren’t doing a great job of marking their players running into the box.”
BNL (0-6-0 overall, 0-3-0 in the league) will host Jennings County on Thursday.
