Obituary: Anderson James (Jim) Blyeth

July 23, 1939 – August 7, 2022


Jim Blyeth, 83, of Largo, Florida (formerly of Springville, IN) passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Jim was born on July 23, 1939, in Leachville, AR, and grew up in Memphis, TN, the son of Albert C. & Thelma
Frances (Giles) Blyeth. After High School, Jim enlisted in the U.S Navy and served 4 years on the first nuclear-powered cruiser, the U.S.S. Long Beach. After his sea duty, he was stationed at Crane Naval Weapons Resource Center in Crane, IN. He began attending the Avoca Baptist Church where he met Rosemary Evans and they married there on April 5, 1963.

Jim is survived by Rosemary, a son Patrick (& Dawn) Blyeth of Largo, FL, and a daughter Allison Jane (& John) Kaiser of Fuquay Del Verena, NC.; his grandchildren Addison Blyeth, Sasha Kaiser, Aramis Kaiser & Oleksandra Kaiser, as well as, great-granddaughters Sophia Blake and Marina Fox; one sister Avanell Ohler of Kansas City, MO, and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Farris Brown.

Faith, family, and photography were at the forefront of his life. After the Navy, he attended and graduated from Indiana University, and he began teaching Art & Photography at Bedford High School, then Bedford North Lawrence High School, after the consolidation. He, along with Rosie, served as Youth Leaders for years at the Avoca Baptist Church, where he was a high school Sunday School teacher and Deacon.

Visitation will be from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Day & Carter Mortuary followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jim’s memory to BNL Art Department
Scholarship, Avoca Baptist Church Scholarship, or Indian Creek Baptist Camp.
