SWITZ CITY – Billy Cline booted home the go-ahead goal late in the second half as Bedford North Lawrence edged White River Valley 3-2 during boys high school soccer action on Thursday.
Cline scored off Adriano Sullivan’s crossing pass with 10:08 left as the Stars (5-3-2) recorded their fourth consecutive win.
BNL blasted to a 2-0 advantage in the first half. Grant Beyers knocked home a shot off a deflection at 29:21, and Sullivan converted a Cline cross at 23:59. The Wolverines (7-3-1) got their first goal at 12:07 as Kobe Morehouse found the net off a Dalton Fulford assist.
“When we got up 2-0, we had a drop off in energy,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “Credit to them, they didn’t give up and made it a game. Overall we didn’t play our best game, but we competed and did enough to win.”
WRV pulled even when Colton Sullivan scored off another Fulford assist with 32:22 left.
BNL rifled 26 shots and generated four corner kicks.
“We were aggressive in shooting,” Otis said. “We just didn’t connect. I’m happy with that. They played very defensive and then sent long balls. We did a good job defending. With the way they played, we dominated the midfield.”
BNL will visit Jeffersonville on Saturday.
