JASPER – Bedford North Lawrence finished sixth during the Jasper Invitational boys cross country race on Tuesday.
The Stars totaled 145 points, while Jasper won the team title with 26. In the girls race, BNL was fifth with 103 points, while the Wildcats won that crown with 25.
BNL’s Jonah Bailey was 14th overall in 18:24.51, and Alex Nicholson was 17th in 18:36.29. Chase Turner was 32nd in 19:34.33, and Kason Gulley was 35th in 19:44.79.
“Chase and Kason ran some nice races which moves our third and fourth scoring positions forward in the race,” BNL coach Nick Boyd said. “This is exactly what we are looking for moving into the postseason. Jonah has ran great all year, so there is not a huge concern with a slower time this evening. We are in a tough stretch with three meets in seven days. Overall we are making nice progress as we move into the closing stretch of the season.”
Jasper’s Jaryn Weinel was the individual winner in 16:18.71.
In the girls race, Francesca Orozco paced the Stars, crossing in 18th place in a career-best 22:34.64, while Jabrie Sullivan was 24th in 23:20.14.
Jasper’s Ally Wigand was the individual winner in 19:38.99.
BNL will compete in Hoosier Hills Conference races at Seymour on Saturday.
