SEYMOUR – The 49th Seymour Oktoberfest kicks off on Thursday, September 29th. The event runs through Saturday, October 1.
There will be more than 70 food booths and 42 arts and crafts vendors set up from Thursday to Saturday, the Biergarten will be open all three days in the parking lot at Walnut and Second streets.
The Biergarten, located in the parking lot of Walnut and Second streets, and the carnival, located in the B&O Railroad parking lot, will open on Wednesday, September 28th. Discount carnival ride bracelets for $20 will be sold at Seymour City Hall until noon on Wednesday. They will sell for $25 at the midway.
Carnival hours:
- Wednesday, September 28: 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Thursday, September 29: 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Friday, September 30: 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 1: 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Bracelet Hours
- Wednesday, September 28: 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Thursday, September 29: 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Friday, September 30: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
There will also be live entertainment.
Seymour’s downtown streets will be closed Tuesday, September 27, for setup.
Other attractions include a hot air balloon glow Friday night and the hot air balloon race Saturday, both of which are dependent on the weather. Those are at the grass lot at Fifth and Walnut streets.
On Saturday, there’s the 5K walk/run at 8 a.m. at Seymour High School, a baby contest at 9 a.m. on the North Stage, a parade at 1:30 p.m. on West Second and North Walnut streets, and stein hoist at 4 p.m. in the Biergarten.
Awards will be given to the best-decorated food and arts and crafts booths. Those awards and the baking contest and window decorating awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the North Stage.
