BEDFORD – Jeffersonville rallied from two sets down to conquer Bedford North Lawrence in a five-set thriller during high school volleyball action on Saturday.
The Red Devils (7-16 overall, 1-4 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) survived BNL’s fast start and best performance of the season to escape with a 21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-13 triumph.
“We played the best volleyball I think BNL has seen in a long time,” BNL coach Whitney Carroll said. “I was really happy with our play. We came out strong. You have to give Jeff credit, they are a scrappy team with some great front-row players.”
Hayley Davis had 9 kills, 12 digs and 4 blocks for the Stars. Sammie Gratzer totaled 8 kills, Anna Williams added 7 kills and 4 blocks, and Camryn Anderson finished with 4 kills and 3 blocks.
“We get better every time we step on that court,” Carroll said. “That’s all I can ask.”
BNL (2-18 overall, 0-5 in the HHC) will visit Madison on Monday. The Stars will also learn their postseason fate when the IHSAA announces the sectional draws on Sunday.
