BEDFORD – A Mitchell man was arrested on Tuesday when Bedford police officers were called to Taco Bell after a report of an unconscious male behind the wheel of a vehicle in the drive-through.
When police arrived they approached the brown Chevrolet Malibu in an attempt to get the driver’s attention. There was no response when they repeatedly knocked on the window. At that time, an officer then attempted to break the window because the vehicle was still running and not in gear.
The driver 28-year-old Nathan Anderson then woke and unlocked the vehicle. He placed the vehicle in park and stepped out of the vehicle. Police say Anderson was intoxicated. Anderson kept saying “I am tired, I have been working”.
Anderson failed numerous field sobriety tests.
Anderson consented to a blood draw at IU Health Bedford Hospital and those results are pending.
Anderson was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, and OWI controlled substance pending the results of the blood test. His vehicle was towed by Stone City Collision.
