INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Airport Authority will host a special ceremony on Oct. 20 to dedicate a new 14,000-square-foot outdoor art installation titled Transitions at the Indianapolis International Airport.
The installation is the largest of its kind in the nation, made from more than 300,000 recyclable cups, and will serve as a visually appealing and artistic way to obscure construction activity associated with the new $198 million project to rebuild the airport’s runways.
Officials from the Indianapolis Airport Authority, the Indy Arts Council and artist Jackie Head will be in attendance and available onsite for interviews after the event ceremony. Confirmed to attend are:
- Mario Rodriguez, Executive Director, Indianapolis Airport Authority
- Julie Goodman, President and CEO, Indy Arts Council
- Jackie Head, Artist
The installation is the creative genius of local artist Jackie Head, who was selected by a panel of representatives from the Indy Arts Council and the IAA to execute the project. The art installation’s introduction marks a significant increase in the airport’s commitment to public art and local artists.
