LAWRENCE COUNTY – With the Mayoral turnover in Mitchell, the Lawrence County Redevelopment Commission has decided to pull back on the reigns on the proposed shell building in the Lehigh TIF district.
The plan was to build the building that could house a business or multiple businesses to lease the building for their needs, helping draw more attention to the City of Mitchell.
“We want to wait and see with the new mayor, whoever that may be, on their opinion as well as the city council to determine how to move forward with the proposal,” said Lawrence County Redevelopment Commission President Jeff Quyle. “I have been to a city council meeting as well as Scott (Smith) to discuss this project, which has been met with interest, but we don’t want to force anything, but instead work with the new mayor on the idea.”
The commission wants to continue to build on the importance that Lehigh has on the community of Mitchell, and help to build up the area further, to become more prosperous.
The proposal could include a potential deadline with the new mayor and council to best determine how to move forward with the project.
