NEEDMORE – A Bedford man was arrested Wednesday after a report of a motor vehicle accident at 130 Needmore East.
When police arrived they learned that 45-year-old Robert Clifft had rammed a woman’s car with his pickup truck.
The woman had an active protective order in place against Clifft.
Although Clifft entered and secured the lock to the residence, police were able to detain Clifft.
The woman reported that while she was at the residence to collect personnel belongings, Clifft approached the residence and began to ram her Chevrolet Sedan with his pickup truck.
Clifft then approached her and pinned her between the vehicle and the door by using the driver’s door of her vehicle. She was then able to get back into her vehicle.
While she was inside her vehicle, Clifft got back into his truck and rammed the front of her vehicle.
The woman stated there had been an argument between she, Clifft, and Cliff’s girlfriend who was also at the scene.
Clifft’s girlfriend reported that Clifft had entered the driveway at a high rate of speed and was unable to avoid crashing into the other woman’s car. However, police found no skid marks at the location validating the girlfriend’s account of what happened.
While investigating the incident the woman requested an ambulance after complaining about upper right arm pain from the door hitting her. She was checked by a LifeLine ambulance crew but refused to go to the hospital.
Clifft was arrested on charges of invasion of privacy, battery causing bodily injury, and criminal recklessness.
