MITCHELL – Two people were arrested on warrants early Thursday morning after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 300 block of Clarks Ferry Road to serve arrest warrants.
Police attempted to locate 30-year-old Timothy Witten who was wanted on a warrant for theft and 33-year-old Alicia Diviney who was wanted on a warrant for petition to revoke.
WOhen deputies arrived at 2:26 a.m. They located a tent set up in a wooded area and identified themselves as “Sheriff’s Department”. Witten exited the tent and Diviney soon followed. Both were detained.
Officers found a baggie containing crystal meth in Witten’s front watch pocket of his jeans
Witten faces charges of theft after he allegedly was involved in three thefts from Walmart that occurred on August 9, September 19, and September 21, 2022.
According to police, Witten used UPCs from cheaper items and scanned them instead of the UPCs from the items he actually purchased. Police say the total amount of theft in all three cases totals more than $963.
Witten will also face a new charge of possession of meth. Diviney was arrested on an outstanding warrant and both were transported to jail.
