BEDFORD – In a 6-0 vote, the North Lawrence Community School Board approved a one-year contract for NLCS Teachers during their meeting Monday night.
Teachers this year saw an increase to the funding for wages that saw approximately $1.3 million added to teachers’ salaries and benefits, a step in the right direction according to NLCS Superintendent Dr. Ty Mungle.
“We are moving in the right direction, in providing our teachers better pay. Thanks, to the hard things we have had to do over the last few years, things are starting to pay off,” said Dr. Mungle.
A total of $750,000 for the wage increases, and $18,400 in stipends, with an additional $100,000 in contributions to health savings accounts and $378,560 in health premiums which will be paid by the school corporation.
This is a change in the process over the past 11 years, as in that time teachers were only awarded stipends. This contract will not only increase teachers’ salaries but offer additional measures for their future and retirement plans.
The 2022-2023 Re-opener can be found on the NLCS website. The teacher’s contract will be re-opened again next year.
