BEDFORD – Crews continue to work on Lawrence County Bridge 138 carrying East Oolitic Road over Salt Creek.
Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb reported to the commissioners Tuesday morning that crews will be pouring concrete at the bridge at night and will begin the work on October 31.
The bridge was closed in August.
The work will consist of bearing replacement and relocation, the removal of a portion of the bridge deck, hydro demolition, installment of a new bridge deck overlay, and replacement of the expansion joints. There will be approximately 100 feet of approach work associated with this project.
Work is expected to be complete in November weather permitting.
The Lawrence County Commissioner approved a contract with CLR for $2.6 million to replace Bridge 150 on Mill Creek Road. The county will pay $319,536.10.
Sign replacement for Districts 2 and 3 will begin in November. The commissioners signed a contract for the federal retro-reflective signage in September 2019. The county received $552,240 in federal transportation funds to replace road signs to meet the latest national retro-reflective standards set by the Federal Highway Administration. These funds will not replace road name signs.
