Officer notices drug paraphernalia during traffic stop and arrest is made

MITCHELL – A Bloomington man was arrested on drug charges Monday night after a Mitchell Police officer stopped a vehicle traveling west on Main Street.

The officer stopped the vehicle at Wilkins Way and Main Street because the vehicle did not have a working license plate light.

Ryan Frey-Scott

The male driver was identified as 40-year-old Ryan Frey-Scott. When Frey-Scott handed the officers his license and the vehicle registration the officer noticed a glass smoking device used to smoke marijuana THC wax.

When asked about the drugs, Frey-Scott refused to answer questions.

On the driver’s side floorboard, the officer located a clear glass tube which also appeared to have marijuana THC wax in it. There was also a Suboxone pill found where Frey Scott was sitting. Frey-Scott did tell the officer he did not have a prescription for the drug.

He admitted he had purchased the pill more than a week ago and would crush the pill up into five pieces and take each one separately.

Frey-Scott was detained on charges of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He called a friend to come to pick up the vehicle.
