BEDFORD – A Mitchell man was arrested after Bedford Police officers received a complaint about a suspicious male in the area of 22nd and O streets on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
The caller reported the male was walking up and down the road and sitting on people’s porches.
The male was wearing black pants, a black shirt, and carrying a red backpack.
When officers arrived they found 25-year-old Kenneth Chenault walking east on 22nd Street.
Officers say Chenault was wanted on a warrant in Lawrence County for a petition to revoke and warrants in Orange County. Chenault was detained.
In Chenault’s pant pocket police found two syringes. While being transported to the Bedford Police Department for processing Chenault retrieved a pill container from his person and tossed it in the back floorboard of the police vehicle. The container contained a plastic baggy containing 7.93 grams of crystal meth and a plastic baggy containing marijuana.
In the backpack, an officer found a pill bottle containing 82.5 Prednisone 10 mg. pills which Chenault did not have a valid prescription.
Chenault was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of possession of meth, possession of a legend drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, and warrants for a petition to revoke and failure to appear.
