MARTINSVILLE – IU Health Morgan’s new primary care walk-in celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
“This service is for the entire community and ties into our goal to make Indiana a healthier state,” says IU Health Morgan Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer Jason King, DNP, RN, CENP, FAONL. “The office saw 133 patients within five days of opening, with a little less than half of the total not being IU Health patients.”
King says the team is excited to be able to offer this care option to their community. IU Health Morgan’s celebration included walk-in team members; IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Chief Operating Officer Chip Johnson; IU Health South Central Region Chief Physician Executive Brechin Newby, MD, MBA, FAAP; members of the Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce; Martinsville Mayor Kenneth Costin; and Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jamie Taylor.
Toward the end of the event, King took a moment to explain that the walk-in is here for anyone with a time-sensitive health concern that isn’t life-threatening. This resource is a middle ground for times when community members can’t wait for a primary care appointment but don’t really need an emergency department level of care.
Located in IU Health Morgan at 2209 John R Wooden Dr, Martinsville, IN 46151, near the main entrance, the walk-in is open Monday – Saturday, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., no appointment is needed. Learn more at https://iuhealth.org/find-locations/iu-health-morgan-walk-in.
