BEDFORD – The Bedford City Council approved the third and final passage of the proposed traffic change on 7 1/2 Street, between Lincoln Avenue and O Street.
This intersection has proven to be an issue as the roadway has a two-way section of travel, while the remainder of the street is one-way traffic causing safety concerns.
The roadway does not fit the required width to be a one-way street, and a home on the corner of the alley way behind the plaza on 7 1/2 Street, causes an obstructed view for drivers.
Chief Moore made the recommendation to make 7 1/2 Street all one-way, from the east to west, or from Lincoln Avenue to O Street, and include one-way traffic signs for motorists.
The request for stop signs at the end of the alley way on both the north and south side of the roadway behind Lincoln Plaza has been removed, as the proposed plan for Lincoln Plaza Pharmacy to include a drive-through pharmacy window has changed from the rear alleyway, to the northern part of the building.
The council voted to approve the traffic change, which will begin as soon as possible.
