SOUTHPORT – Bedford North Lawrence’s Jayella Filler, Alivia Crane and Samantha Biel competed in the girls division of The Gobbler tournament at Southport on Saturday.
Filler won three matches and finished third in the 112-120 weight class, Crane posted two wins and finished fourth in the 132-143 class, and Samantha Biel prevailed twice to take fifth place in the 139-147 division.
Filler posted pins over Perry Meridian’s Bella Ramirez (1:26) and Beech Grove’s Janissa Golder (1:44) in the pool rounds, then pinned Lafayette Jeff’s Senniah Henderson in 1:47 to finish third. Filler reversed a pin loss to Henderson in her third pool match.
Crane had victories over Muncie Central’s Kadence Jones (5:22) and Decatur Central’s Kameyia Reece (2:33) in pool competition. She went 0-2 in the finals and consolation rounds.
Biel went 0-3 in pool matches, then rebounded to conquer Muncie Central’s Kiara Patty (1:01) and Decatur Central’s Alejandra Hernandez (2:38) in the consolations.
