BEDFORD – Lincoln Elementary was placed on lockdown Monday morning after it was reported that a student had a gun in their possession.
The administration quickly notified the authorities and placed the school on lockdown for the safety of those in the building.
The Bedford Police Department responded to the call from the school and recovered a BB gun from a student. Following the recovery, the student was turned over to the authorities and the parents were contacted.
In a press release from North Lawrence Community Schools, they thanked the quick response and efforts to ensure the safety of everyone at the school.
“We appreciate the quick response taken by Lincoln Elementary and the Bedford Police Department to quickly address the situation. It was determined by the Bedford Police Department and Lincoln Elementary Administration that the protocol for a lockdown was no longer needed.”
