MITCHELL – Alexander “Alex” Kling, a senior at Mitchell High School, has been named the Genius Jock for the month of December presented by the attorneys at Pittman Law firm, Greg Pittman and Michelle Woodward.
Alex, son of Kevin and Amy Kling, transferred to Mitchell High School this school year when his father was named the Head Football Coach for the Bluejackets. Even with the change in scenery, Alex continued to strive on the field and in the classroom. Carrying a 4.0 GPA, Alex knows what it takes to be a true student-athlete.
He is a member of Key Club, the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and the Student Athletic Leadership Council at Mitchell High School. He was the Junior Class Treasurer at Princeton High School, where he was also involved in the Drama, magic the gathering card, cornhole, and FCA clubs during his time at Princeton.
Through Key Club and the National Honor Society, Alex has volunteered with church youth groups, helped with football camps, and also participated in many other volunteer services. He has played football for four years and was recognized as a team captain, three years in wrestling as a captain, and two years in track and field.
He was recognized as an Indiana Rising Star Student, Two-Time All-Conference Football Player, and Academic All-State in Football and Wrestling. He was also honored as the winner of the High School Heisman Scholarship for Mitchell High School and awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Wabash College.
Alex plans to attend Wabash College where he hopes to major in chemistry and work on earning a minor in math. He then hopes to attend graduate school to earn additional credentials and where he then plans to work in Pharmaceuticals.
