BEDFORD – Bedford Revitalization Inc.’s Christmas Around the Square is prepared to make its annual return Saturday, December 3rd.
Visit the Open Air Christmas Market and enjoy food from local food trucks and purchase Christmas crafts and gifts from vendors lined up on J Street between 15th and 16th streets. Some vendors will be open early in the day along with the downtown shops and restaurants, however all street vendors will be operating from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
There will be plenty of vendors on-site during the market, and many of the downtown business storefronts will be decorated and illuminated as part of season and Saturday’s festivities.
Harp Commons will be busy, as the free live reindeer exhibit will return and the chance for children to have a free professional photo taken with Santa Claus will both be running from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Photos will be made available for download on the Bedford Revitalization Inc. website www.DowntownBedford.org within the following week.
At 5:00 p.m. Parade Grand Marshals from the Batcole Foundation: Mike, Carol & Lauren Winnefeld will be recognized from the steps in front of the Miss Indiana statue on the westside of the Lawrence County Courthouse. Bedford Mayor Sam Craig will deliver the City Proclamation and Judge Nathan Nikirk will follow with a presentation prior to the illumination of the Lawrence County Courthouse star which will take place at sunset, around 5:30pm.
At 6 p.m., the annual Bedford Christmas parade will begin and follow a similar route to this year’s Limestone Heritage Festival parade. The route will head south on M Street to 16th Street, before heading to the downtown square. There it will turn north on I Street, before heading west on 15th Street. The parade will then turn north on L Street where it concludes at 13th and Lincoln. Parade entrants have the option to travel west on 13th Street or continue north on Lincoln Ave.
Spectators can enjoy festive parade music and hear the parade entry announcements near the corner of 16th and I Street as over one hundred parade entries adorned in Christmas lights travel through downtown Bedford.
