MITCHELL – Through the College Football Playoff Foundation, one local teacher was recognized during the Big 10 Championship game and received a $4,000 grant to provide further learning possibilities for her students.
Whitney Reed, the STEAM and Collab Lab teacher at Burris and Hatfield elementary schools, joined nine educators in being awarded funding to improve their classrooms and create more opportunities for their students, which in the case of Mrs. Reed’s STEAM Special, will include eight new 3D printers for her classroom and students to utilize.
“I am super grateful for the experience and being chosen,” said Reed. “It was wonderful that they recognized that the projects that we want to bring to our Mitchell students were important in their eyes as well.”
The Big Ten worked with Indiana Sports Corp to select ten teachers, with the goal of recognizing ten different schools in the state of Indiana, to provide funding for educational initiatives throughout the state.
The funding will enhance educational efforts in the selected teachers’ respective classrooms and schools:
