BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington North dominated the middle weight classes while posting a 45-33 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during high school wrestling action on Thursday night.
The Stars won seven matches, two more than the Cougars, but North took advantage of two forfeits for the deciding points.
On the mat, BNL got impressive wins from Wyatt Philpott (pinning Jacob Gadd in 3:00 at 106 pounds), Jayden Johnson (a 5-3 decision over Cas Cervello at 120) and Jorj Filler (pinning Joe Tatman in 5:17 at 126).
In addition, BNL’s Ethan Stancombe fought off Jaremiah Casillas 5-4 at 152, Jaxon Powell trapped Luke Kerns in 1:19 at 182, Tate Tanksley topped Brendan Gilland in 1:24 at 220, and Junior Arellano flattened Chase May in 59 seconds at 285.
The Stars will travel to Seymour on Dec. 15.
