BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners Tuesday renewed it county’s contract with the White River Humane Society.
The contract is $45,000 and had no changes from last year’s contract.
The commissioner also will be looking into purchasing boxes for the AEDs.
Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.
Currently, the county has those stored at the security desks.
Commissioner Wally Branham says they need to be stored in a central location in view of the public in case they are needed.
“The boxes are not very expensive and I just feel they need to be out where they can be easily accessed,” Branham added.
Human Resource Director Travis Sanders will research the cost of the boxes and let the commissioners know what he finds out.
