LAWRENCE COUNTY – Vicky Schlegel was sworn in as the newest member of the Mitchell City Council by Judge Nathan Nikirk Wednesday morning, in a moment she said reflects the positive light on Mitchell.
“I think I can bring a lot to the table in representing the citizens of Mitchell,” said Schlegel. “I look forward to continuing to improve the City of Mitchell and make it a better place for everyone to live.”
Working to improve the city is the main goal for Schlegel, one that has been addressed by the City Council over many past meetings.
“Property management has been a huge concern over the past couple of years, making some areas feel run down. I think Mitchell is a great place to live and I feel that needs to be reflected throughout the city. We need to make sure we are all on the same page with this issue and doing their part will be my main focus this year.”
Schlegel will fill the remaining term of Mayor Nathan Jenkins, who stepped into the role following the departure of Mayor J.D. England.
