BEDFORD – Bedford City District 3 Councilman Brad Bough announced he is seeking re-election.
“When I sought election to the Bedford City Council in 2019, my primary goal was to be a voice for the children of our city and to be an advocate for their safety,” Bough said. “To that end, I made a pledge to the parents and grandparents of our city, that I would be ever mindful of the safety of their children and grandchildren. I have upheld that pledge and am, therefore, proud to announce I will be a candidate for reelection, to again represent Bedford’s 3rd City Council District, on the Bedford City Council.
Some examples of promises made, and kept by Bough were:
“When I noted there were no School Zone speed ordinances in place on the east and west sides of Bedford Middle School, my first act as a City Councilman on January 2nd, 2020, was to request the introduction of an ordinance to correct this oversight. Signage and crosswalks next to our parks, the repair of the speed bump beside the playground at Wilson park, and the advocacy for a Safe Haven Baby Box at our H Street Firestation are just some of the ways I have kept my pledge to the parents and grandparents of our city.”
Additionally, as the city’s condemnation hearing officer, Bough ordered various structures to be made safe or rendered inaccessible, to prevent children from wandering into these dangerous areas.
“It must; however, be noted that no single person can accomplish this on their own. It takes a team and having the support of my fellow City Council members and Mayor Sam Craig, has been a godsend for that, I wish to thank the citizens of Bedford for electing them to serve with me. In the past 3 years, our team has repaired infrastructure and improved the city in areas that were totally ignored by previous administrations, for far too many years, which sadly included areas of children’s safety, which our team addressed.”
“Furthermore, as a team, we have supported the employees of our city, with the most important addition being the purchase of the former Aldi’s building, which will soon become the new home of the Bedford Police Department,” Bough. “As a city, we are only as good as those who perform the needed services to keep the city operating and to every city employee, I say Thank you for your service.”
“Finally, I want to say Thank you to the citizens of Bedford’s 3rd City Council District, for the trust they have reposed in me for the past 3 years and I would sincerely ask that you do so again in 2023 and re-elect me as your voice on the Bedford City Council. Thanks to all again for their continued support and may God bless Bedford.”
