Arva “Charlene” Lewis, 96, left this world on December 22, 2022.
She was of Christian faith. Charlene was born in Burns City, IN on April 23, 1926, to John David and Ora Violet (Callahan) Walls. She was the youngest and last surviving of ten children. Her family moved to Bedford when she was a young child and that is where she attended school. Charlene married Robert D. Lewis on October 18, 1946. They were married for 36 years. He passed in 1997.
Preceding Charlene in death were her parents, husband, siblings, and son Richard W. Lewis.
She is survived by two daughters, Shelia (Stu) Hudson of Bedford and Donna (Ted) Miller of Paoli, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her wishes to be cremated will be honored. There will be a memorial service on or about what would have been her 97th birthday in April 2023.
The Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford has been entrusted with the arrangements for Charlene.
