MITCHELL – Two men were arrested on Wednesday after an Indiana State Police trooper ran a license plate and found the vehicle was registered to a wanted felon.
The officer stopped the Ford Mustang on Jefferson Street in Mitchell.
The driver of the vehicle, Clinton Henry, 38, of Bedford, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for petition to revoke.
His passenger, 43-year-old David Halley, of Heltonville, was asked to step out of the vehicle while ISP canine Loki did a free-air sniff of the exterior of the car. During the sniff, Loki alerted troopers to drugs in the vehicle.Â
While searching the vehicle, a trooper located a small metal canister under the passenger seat that held a plastic bag containing methamphetamine residue.
The trooper then located a clear plastic bag containing meth residue inside a backpack. Henry admitted the methamphetamine in the backpacks belonged to him, police said.
Halley and Henry are both facing a charge of possession of meth.
