OOLITIC – A Bedford man was arrested Wednesday after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies received a report of a suspicious male walking on Lafayette Avenue and 5th Street at 9:30 p.m.
The caller reported the male was impaired and looking inside vehicles.
Officers arrived and began searching for the male. They located 44-year-old David Johnson stumbling on Lafayette Avenue.
The deputies detained Johnson who refused to cooperate. He was told to stop but refused and was placed in handcuffs. Johnson, while taken to the ground, did suffer a cut to his head.
Johnson continued to struggle with officers and had to be forcefully placed in the police car.
An IU LifeLine ambulance was requested to the scene and Johson was evaluated and then taken to jail on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.
